To create an investment product.
To discovery, create and validate business, and an extensive product discovery process, that started at the weekend's hackathon and lasted for a few months, until the MVP was ready to be lauched.
Pig was developed during Hacka Gr1d 2019.
The main sponsor, Gr1d, is an API marketplace for life insurance companies. For the hackathon, Gr1d invited 40 tech professionals to explore the APIs and create disrupt products regarding investments and life insurance business.
We got first place, yesss! and iPhone XRs for each member of the team, wow! But the best of it is the opportunity that we’re having to develop the product with this lovely team.
Every hour, 321 babies are born in Brazil.
In a country that is facing an economic downturn since 2019, raising a child is extremely expensive and at the end of the month, there is no money left to think about the child's future. So, how about helping all these parents to achieve the dream of providing something they want for their kids' future? Besides being a designer, I’m a father and I believe it’s something memorable to do.
Brazilians are terrible in finance.
Our first research was to study the Brazilian habits and knowledge level in finance. We discovered that Brazilians are choosing an investment with a very low return, savings Account.
They only invest the money left of the month. Rarely they invest in the first days of the month.
They don’t have goals well defined.
They think investing is bureaucratic and only invest in basic options.
They prefer to buy something unnecessary than saving the money.
They don’t have financial education.
Together we can do more.
Family, relatives, friends, there are many people that could help a kid. They just need to want to help.
Invest in the kids'
future as a gift.
Imagine a birthday of a 2-year-old kid, that often ends with tons of toys that we have no room to store at our houses. Now imagine if people could give the most important gift for this kid, an investment in his future.

And, if it’s the second time, ask if users want to change the goals values and send saving tips also. | Inform the deadline to receive the money, the possibility to rescue a part of the amount, and ask the user to keep a little money in PIG, just to keep the account opened. |
1. Pedro and Layla lived together for three years. Their finance were great, they used to travel on holidays, vacations, go to restaurants etc.
2. They had a son and started to have issues with the family budget.
3. They were really worried about their son’s future. Their plan were to provide him a great school and college, but they weren’t saving any money.
4. They found out about PIG, created an account and invited parents to participate.
5. PIG was a high motivation to save money and to keep the idea of investing on their son’s future a priority. With the help of relatives and discipline, they started to save money.
6. They are relieved, after taking control of their son’s future and after getting all the knowledge to keep saving money and to deal with the month family budget. Some years passed, and as many other parents with a PIG account, their kid's future is almost guaranteed.
The most important feature of PIG is gamification. Therefore the main content of the user dashboard are the goals status. In the goal screen, users can see the month goal, the complete goal, amount of money, and all about this specific goal.
The payment screen has money values suggestions to provide a quick check out.
All the game notifications regarding goals (completed, missed, recalculated), best day for investing (salary day, 13 salary), account activity (investments by relatives, balance sheets), are in app notifications session. Users also have the option to receive notifications by e-mail.

We evaluate their knowledge about investments.
We asked them to complete some tasks on the website to test usability, such as making a registration, creating an investment goal, tracking goals, accessing the account statement etc.
We asked questions about what they think the product is.
We checked if texts are understandable.
Many valuable insights that guided us to product improvements, such as:
Missunderstanding over the fact that the investment has the help of family members, some people thought PIG is a non-profit organization that helps children.
Difficulty in performing some specific tasks.
Great insights according to each one's life.
Every time I go to a hackathon, I hope to come back with a cool product and make good friends. I'm already happy with that. This time, I had the pleasure of winning my first hackathon and it was a very special day.
The team and I continue to work on the product with a sponsor, and for me it's been a spectacular experience. Having a product to put all the learning into practice, getting involved in all areas, is something that brings me a great professional evolution.
